Anaesthesia performance

Many procedures and tests in veterinary medicine necessitate sedation or anaesthesia. As animals cannot speak in words, we cannot ask them to lay down in a certain position for ultrasound or to stay still while we take a radiograph.

Commonly, anaesthesia is performed by your own veterinarian and his team. However for some animals specialist services may be appropriate or necessary or simply wished for. This is similar to your General Practitioner sending you to see a specialist for further examinations.

VAS is a team of veterinary specialists in veterinary anaesthesia and analgesia. After qualifying as veterinary surgeons and working in practice we decided to undergo further training in our speciality. Residency training programs usually run for three years and require intensive theoretical study and training regarding all aspects of veterinary anaesthesia and pain management as well as a broad experience with several small and large animal species, and special techniques.

Due to our extensive training, the use of advanced equipment during anaesthesia and specialist knowledge your pet will receive the best possible medical care before, during and after his anaesthetic. We will come to your normal veterinary practice and look after your animal together with the veterinary team you are familiar with. Medication, as well as the whole anaesthetic management is tailored to suit your animal and the procedure required. We are also there to address any concerns and answer any open questions.
