ICU/Oxygen Cages
ICU oxygen cages are specifically designed for the intensive care of animals, ensuring controlled oxygen supply, for example, in cases of respiratory diseases. They provide precise oxygen regulation and enable continuous monitoring of vital parameters such as breathing and temperature. These cages minimize stress for the animals, offer a calm environment, and support the healing process by enhancing the comfort and safety of the patients.
The oxygen cages in our offering can be operated with both oxygen concentrators and compressed oxygen (e.g., from pressurized gas cylinders). Using compressed oxygen under pressure generally allows for a faster rise to higher oxygen concentrations. However, quicker increases can also be achieved if the used oxygen concentrators can reach a higher flow rate (such as 10 or 20 L/min). While operation with standard oxygen concentrators in veterinary medicine is possible, the slower rise in oxygen concentrations is due to the lower maximum flow rate of 5 L/min, which can delay the process, especially when high oxygen concentrations are required.
The adjustable oxygen concentrations range from 20-75% and can be reached in 3-5 minutes depending on the flow rate.
Our ICU oxygen cages are also equipped with temperature control/regulation (15-40°C) and CO2 elimination systems, either by using CO2 absorbers or through the use of so-called two-stream ventilation systems, where one stream circulates oxygen and the other air. The airflow helps remove CO2 from the cage. Depending on the design, the CO2 concentration can be set and regulated between 500-4000 ppm.
Furthermore, the humidity levels in our oxygen cages can be controlled (30-70%), and additional inhalation therapies can be performed (depending on the ICU model).
Our oxygen cages/ICUs are equipped with different lighting options, including work lighting (bright), medium intensity lighting, and rest lighting (for sleeping patients). Depending on the model, our ICUs feature special anionic lighting, which is said to have antibacterial effects, as well as rest lighting in special color designs (e.g., blue or green), allowing observation of the patient without disturbing their rest.
All our ICUs also have a cleaning function, such as UV light, which allows for a 99.5% reduction in pathogens, thus preparing the oxygen cage optimally for the next patient in addition to regular cleaning. This reduces the risk of cross-contamination.
Our oxygen cages are available in various sizes, making effective oxygen therapy available for small dog/cat patients as well as animals weighing up to approximately 20-30 kg.
