Yves Moens
Prof. Dr.med.vet.,Dipl ECVAA, PhD, PD
Yves Moens graduated in Belgium (Veterinary Faculty of Ghent) in 1973 and continued as assistant in the Clinic for surgery. Thereafter, for a period of eight years he was professor of veterinary surgery in Congo (Africa). He joined the veterinary Faculty of Utrecht in 1989 and was granted the PhD on studies about artificial ventilation in horses. From 1996 until 2003 he was Associate Professor in Veterinary Anaesthesia at the university of Bern (Switzerland) interrupted by an appointment of Professor of soft surgery of companion animals during two years at the University of Ghent (Belgium). Dr Moens was granted a PhD (Habilitation) at the University of Bern in 2003 on studies about the monitoring of gas exchange during anaesthesia. Yves Moens is invited specialist and founding member of the ECVAA (European College of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia). Currently he is full Professor and Director of the Division of Anaesthesiology and perioperative Intensive Care and Director of the Emergency Clinic at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna. Currently Prof Moens is Senior Vice President of the ECVAA.
In his spare time he enjoys his wine cellar and little garden in lower Austria.
